It was 1986 and just another sunny day in Bogota, Colombia. Mónica Sánchez was sitting quietly at school when she suddenly discovered she had inherited the beautiful black sewing machine with gold printed letters from her Grandmother. There were no arguments in the family over this decision: all of her 27 cousins and half cousins had dreams of becoming lawyers.

Twenty years later she moved to Norway with 30 kilos of excess weight baggage. When the customs officer searched her bag he found a pair of jeans, a thick woolen cardigan (basic survival equipment for a Colombian in Norway) and a lifetime´s worth of ideas born of exploits with her grandmother´s sewing machine.

Monica soon spotted a gap in the Norwegian market for a new kind of brand for children. She set to work developing the concept that would soon become Dundelina.

Inspired by her arts education, Monica´s unique concept combines sophisticated clothing design, accessories and literature for children which interact with each other in a very special way.

The Dundelina collection is a sophisticated combination of books/literature, clothing and accessories which interact with each other in a unique way. Scenes from the stories feature as beautiful embroidered details and characters come alive as hand-quilted toys and accessories which allow children to re-create their own version of Dundelina´s world.

Each year, Dundelina releases a new story written by the renowned Norwegian author Roald Kaldestad. These stories become the soul of the collections, from which all the graphic elements and fabric characters are developed.

Dundelina´s design approach is clean and contemporary. Our clothes are modern but enduring - sophisticated but with an element of fun. We select un-pretentious materials in natural fibres and plain colours which allow the signature graphical details to stand out.

Dundelina clothing is available for girls between 3 and 10. The accessories, soft toys and books can be enjoyed by people of all ages. All items are available for purchase on-line and through selected children´s clothing stores.
